Custom Biophysical Assays

Rx Biosciences provides tailored biophysical assays to support the development, validation, and quality control of both new and established therapeutics. These assays play a crucial role in advancing the drug discovery process, guiding researchers from identifying initial hits to selecting lead compounds, determining binding constants, understanding secondary and tertiary protein structures, assessing protein stability, and ultimately defining protein structure.  Rx Biosciences can purify high-quality proteins for the assays starting from gene cloning to purification by affinity chromatography, SEC, and IEC, on FPLC and HPLC platforms.

Custom Biophysical Assays
UV Circular Dichroism Spectroscopy

Rx Biosciences offers a range of custom far-UV, near-UV, and visible-range Circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy services. Starting from in-house FPLC, HPLC purified samples, or customer-supplied samples, our well-trained scientists optimize the concentration, buffer, cuvette path length, and other parameters for ideal CD spectroscopic analysis.  Automated temperature control and titration accessories assist in accurately and rapidly completing the experiments.  The JASCO J-810 equipment is routinely calibrated and maintained by a JASCO team of engineers.

Service Highlights
Biacore Surface Plasmon Resonance Assay

Rx Biosciences offers Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) Biacore assay services that cover a wide range of capabilities, including assay development, target validation, high-throughput screening, and high-quality kinetic determinations. Whether studying protein-protein interactions or progressing hit-to-lead small molecule drug discovery, our SPR binding assay support can help you achieve your research and development objectives.

Differential Scanning Fluorimetry (DSF)

Differential scanning fluorimetry (DSF) is a cutting-edge technique used to assess protein stability and detect protein-ligand interactions. This method involves comparing the thermal stability of a specific protein in the presence and absence of a ligand, allowing researchers to identify potential binders that act as stabilizers. Rx Biosciences offers enhanced traditional DSF services. Our team of experienced scientists and technicians conduct experiments and analyze data using state-of-the-art instruments and software to deliver customers with precise experimental results.

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) is a fascinating physical phenomenon that occurs when nuclei are exposed to a strong constant magnetic field and a weak oscillating magnetic field, known as a radio frequency pulse. The nuclei respond by emitting an electromagnetic signal with a frequency that reflects the magnetic field at the nucleus. This phenomenon is only observed in certain NMR active nuclei, including 1H, 13C, 15N, and 19F, making NMR a powerful tool for analyzing biomolecules and organic small molecules.

Each nucleus’s response is incredibly sensitive to its chemical environment, providing valuable information about chemical bonds, as well as the proximity, folding state, and aqueous environment of amino acid residues in proteins or nucleobases in RNA. NMR analysis can be performed on samples with natural isotopic abundance or on samples enriched in NMR active nuclei. This versatility makes NMR a versatile and indispensable technique in the field of chemistry and biochemistry.
